Description
The Invitrogen iBlot 2 Gel Transfer Device is a Western Blot System. The iBlot 2 is compatible both nitrocellulose and PVDF membranes. The Invitrogen iBlot 2 also supports several gel formats such as Bolt Bis-Tris Plus Gel, E-PAGE Gel, Novex Midi Gel, NuPAGE Gel, and Novex Mini Gel. With a throughput capacity of one Midi gel or two Mini gels, the iBlot 2 facilitates dry transfer. The typical run time is approximately seven minutes, achieved through a horizontal running dimension. Users can customise their transfers through the touchscreen interface, which offers custom program options. Additionally, the iBlot 2 features a de-bubbling design, that prevents trapped air bubbles in the blotting layers, ensuring efficient and complete protein transfer without the need for buffer preparation, gel pretreatment, or clean-up post-blotting.
Buffer ion reservoirs are integrated directly into the gel matrix, forming transfer stacks rather than relying on traditional buffer tanks or soaked papers. This ensures a high density of ions, which facilitates rapid protein transfer. During the blotting process, the copper anode avoids generating oxygen gas from water electrolysis, thereby minimising blot distortion. The transfer time is significantly reduced due to the shortened distance between electrodes, combined with high field strength and current.
