Description
The Misonix S-4000 Ultrasonic Liquid Processor utilises advanced digital circuitry and a touchscreen control system to deliver precise energy to each sample. With a 10-programme memory, users can easily store and access different settings, while the output amplitude control range of 1% to 100% allows for precise adjustment according to specific processing needs. The system is equipped with a sound enclosure, an aluminium converter, and a microplate horn for diverse applications. The Misonix ultrasonic liquid processor’s integrated diagnostics alert users when horn replacements are necessary. The S-4000 processor also includes a CL5 split probe.
The rear panel offers a wide range of connector inputs, including USB, a temperature probe port, a power cord connection, and a footswitch jack. Here you will also see the cooling fan. The power input is 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz, and it delivers a maximum output of 1000 V rms at 20 KHz.
Operational Details:
The ultrasonic electronic generator transforms AC line power into a 20 KHz signal, driving a piezoelectric converter that converts the electrical signal into mechanical vibrations. The transducer’s internal piezoelectric crystals create these vibrations, which are then transmitted down the length of the horn/probe. The amplitude, adjustable via the touchscreen, determines the intensity of sonication within the sample. As amplitude increases, so does the sonication intensity.
In liquids, the rapid vibrations cause cavitation, forming and collapsing microscopic bubbles. The collapse of these bubbles releases energy, which is the primary mechanism for fluid processing. The small probe tip diameters deliver high-intensity sonication focused within a small area, while larger diameters can process larger volumes with lower intensity.
